Earth Nation Soldier

This is a nameless soldier I drew to help out with a tutorial.
I was going to make a whole series of tutorials using all the different aspects of his outfit but I got a little caught up with what I was doing. At least I churned out one.


The Crest on his chest is actually a family crest: the fangs represent courage and strength, the sun represents honor and loyalty, the cloud represents wisdom, and the little dot at the top represents a gem which represents divine lineage.
Also the rope is supposed to represent his rank. I didn't go as far as trying to figure out what rank yellow with gold brackets would represent, but it matched his outfit.


Even though you don't really see the Earth Kingdom symbol on him anywhere, I was daydreaming about Avatar while I was drawing it so I figured it would be fun as some kind of random fanart bit.

Also I know his eyes say "fire bender" but all the other colors because of his look seemed a little off. And green was used so much in the picture I kind of sighed in dismay at the thought of using it again (seriously. I'm seeing green spots everywhere now!). Brown with black hair is also the typical earth bender's appearance, but I needed to balance out the tones of yellow in the picture to at least make myself feel like there was some level of symmetry.
